Volunteer quilters transforming fabrics into patchwork quilts that comfort children in need.
Our Vision
As an organization consisting entirely of volunteers our goal and vision is to bring comfort to some of the six million children who are hospitalized each year with serious illnesses. Having a brightly colored child-oriented quilt to snuggle with can help make the long days in healthcare facilities less frightening . Long Island Quilts for Kids is one of the many chapters throughout North America and the Caribbean that proudly works to help comfort our local children.
Our Quilt Recipients
Children in need-- those with cancer, AIDS, and life threatening medical conditions receive our quilts. Both children and staff in hospitals and treatment centers welcome our washable brightly colored all cotton quilts.
Our Quilters
Quilting guilds, individuals, and community groups are some of the many volunteers who help us turn tears into smiles one stitch, one quilt, one child at a time. Our monthly Sit and Sew workshops help bring community volunteers together for the benefit of the many children whose days we hope to brighten.
